I am very pleased with the progress my daughter Crystal has shown over the last few months. Crystal has shown marked improvement in the areas of respect, responsibility, and personal skills. In today’s world there are very few role models for children to look up to. Your program provides strong role models for my daughter. Your importance of goals and positive role models in a child’s life is extremely beneficial, and I thank you and your staff for providing these thing for Crystal. ~ Dwight D. Hull
This WTSDA Karate Kid program has surpassed my greatest expectations. He used to give up if something was too hard for him. I watched him practicing his karate over and over and working hard to learn all of them. I was amazed at his dedication and his willingness to work. He is bringing the same determination to his school work. It’s wonderful! I am not so worried about what kind of person he will become. The Tang Soo Do Karate Kid training is wonderful, but even more important is the confidence, respect, and role models that the black belts provide. ~ Patricia Bowman
This program has influenced my child in a positive manner. He now shows confidence in front of others and in his school work. I appreciate the discipline you teach in your classes and the amount of improvement he has made since joining the class - he has made his mother and I very proud of him. I want to let you know that from the start I was very impressed in the way the classes went and how the instructors conducted themselves. When we attended the first class, I knew it would be the right thing for my child to attend, I noticed that you focused on some of the things that are important not only to Martial Arts but in life. The program teaches that hard work and discipline pays off in the end. I also have seen that you have taught my child that you need to respect people. I see that since joining the class that my son now says yes sir and ma'am to adults and authority. It has been and will continue to be a privilege for my son to attend you classes. ~ Eric J. Gore
Although he’s just beginning, Christopher has displayed a focus and eagerness toward Tang Soo Do. Whether it be reading books or helping other adults, everything he does, it seems, is done with the purpose of reaching a Tang Soo Do goal! Thanks to the Starworld Martial Arts Academy. Christopher is learning discipline and the values of exercising his mind and body!~ Darren Stritzinger
“Strength, Confidence, and Determination… Daniel is only able to attend Martial Arts class only one night a week. But the lasting effects will continue with Daniel throughout his life. Daniel enjoys the kicking and punching that helps to improve his coordination core. Daniel’s confidence and determination has grown from an “I can’t do that” to an “I will try.” As each class ends, I see a new spark… No, the spark is not from his Glo-sticks. (What a terrific and fun evening!!) The spark is the spirit of a young man understanding and learning what he can train his mind and body to do.” ~ Linda Pennington-Barry
"When Damien started Tang Soo Do he had an only child complex. The world revolved around him and everyone else can just wait their turn!!! After Logan was born we had a problem with waiting His turn and not throwing a fit when he didn't get what he wanted when he wanted it. From white belt to green has been a great adventure he is learning self-disciple, self-control, and obeying your parents. He puts his brother first for almost everything, helps clean up after him, protects him from his older, much bigger cousins, and puts him to bed. His attention span still needs help but we will get there."~ Korisa Smith Allen
“Master Williamson, Christy and I would like to commend you and your staff on the positive influence that you have all conveyed to Elizabeth that has increased her growth and development. This is demonstrated not only in Elizabeth’s martial arts and increased athletic ability, but also in her academic and social skills. While she has always been a very good student, we are well aware that her focused attention has increased and that of her grades since she has enrolled at the StarworldAcademy. The patience and determination of the Starworld Academy staff have allowed her the ability to gain greater self confidence with her self as well as with social situations. We have admiration for you and your staff for the ability to coach the martial arts, but also for your mentoring and positive influence. Elizabeth continues to look forward to her martial arts training with aspirations to achieve Black Belt status. We continue to thank you for you instruction and mentoring.”~ Wayne and Chisty Taylor
“Master Williamson, while driving to attend the Region 2 championships in Utah this month, I was speaking with Brandon about competing in his first tournament. His only comment was “I hope I’m not picked first.” I asked him why and he explained that he would be scared to go first. I told him he didn’t have to worry about going first or last because he knew his form, had practiced it dozens of times and was good at demonstrating it. Even through the mask of parental bravado, I couldn’t help but hope he wouldn’t be first. As a parent, my worst fear would be seeing my little boy standing in the middle of the ring, in front of hundreds of strangers, frozen by fear, having made a mistake or forgotten a move. When we arrived at the competition, I watched as Brandon’s division was selected as the first to compete. My horror grew as I discovered they would compete in forms first. Then my stomach sank as I heard them announce Brandon was the first to perform. My mind was so busy trying to think of pep-talk points to give him to calm him down that I almost didn’t notice him answer his name, rise and walk to the side of the ring, approach a panel of black belts, present himself and his school and ask permission to perform at his first ever competition. He performed his form, received his score, thanked the judges and exited the ring. He didn’t place in the competition, but in my mind his score at the competition did not matter. What did matter was that my 8 year old son has just demonstrated he could master his fears, that he could master the fear of performing in front of an audience. He displayed an ability which I know he has gained from your studio, your instructors and your art. Thank you Grand Master Shin, WTSDA Region 2, you Master Williamson and the black belt instructors and SWAT staff at Starworld Academy.” Respectfully,~ Daryl J. Gorff
“I can’t ever thank you enough for the difference that you’re making in the lives of my children. Your program is so much more than a way for them to learn self-defense techniques. It is a place where they can grow, learn self-confidence, and feel love for who they are.
When Alyssa started taking classes at the Starworld Academy, her self-confidence was really low. At the first class, she wouldn’t even ki-hap because she was embarrassed that someone would look at her. With every postcard that would come in the mail and every black belt that would complement her, her self-esteem would start growing. Now, she holds her head high. She believes in her self again. It is great to have my daughter back.
As her self esteem grew, so did her awareness of those around her. She got rid of friends that were causing drama in her life and added ones with the same values and confidence that she had. This has made her much happier with her life.
Alyssa’s classes offer her exercise. She is in band at school and doesn’t have PE class. She has a lot more energy and is more toned thanks to her Starworld Academy classes. This is important because our family has a history of heart disease and high blood pressure. I love that she’s learning to incorporate exercise into her everyday life at an early age.
Finally, the Starworld Academy has given Alyssa an extended “family”. She has older kids to talk to about the frustrations of growing up. She then turns around and helps the younger kids. It is a place where she feels comfortable and like she can be herself without anyone judging her. This is priceless.
Thank you so much for offering such a great program. You have my eternal gratitude.”~ -Bowman Family
“Since Gabby started going to Starworld Academy her grades have gotten better. She is more focused about her surroundings. She is more open. The class has really helped her in so many different ways I cannot describe in words. When she was a white belt she was certain about what she was doing as she became a yellow belt my wife and I started to see change in her attitude at home as well as there. The more she goes to class, the more she tries with life and its little problems in (her world). Now she is a senior orange belt. She tries even harder to be that best that she can be. I cannot thank Master Williamson and staff enough with the outstanding work and help you all have done with my daughter. I hope she continues to do the best she can with your staff I know she will. That’s what StarworldAcademy Black Belt Leadership School has done for my family.”~ Patricia Dueltgen
“We see several positive benefits from Kyle’s participation in karate at Starworld Academy
1. Kyle is learning to stand up for himself against people who might try bullying him.
2. He is learning that karate is a great stress reliever, especially after a hard day at school.
3. He is having fun and this is one sport we feel he excels at.
4. We see him improving in his physical fitness level month by month as he performs the exercises in class.
5. It gets him up off the couch and interacting with other kids his age.
6. We see he is enjoying working wit the bow staff, foam sword, and nunchaku and it keeps his interest and makes him look forward to Fridays. Kyle may not be the most attentive student in class, but he does enjoy karate and we hope he stays with it.”~ Tim and Pam Kurczewski
In karate we learn how to use different kinds of weapons. As a little dragon, I’m learning the Bo-Staff and Nun chucks. My favorite is the staff. I really like doing the one handed figure eight. I am also learning the helicopter, the airplane, blocking, and much more. I really like watching the demo team perform because I get to see them use a lot of different weapons. Mr. Boeckman does a great job with the sword. I hope one day with a lot of practice I can use my weapons just as well.~ Zachariah Sowell
The tournament in October was very fun. I got a second place in forms. I did the fourth form, which is my favorite form so far. I met some new friends too. It was so awesome meeting Grand Master Shin. He signed my medal and uniform. In sparring, I almost got a medal, but that’s okay. I am not really good at sparring, but I am trying to improve for the next tournament. My brother, Mario got first in sparring. My other brother, Carlos, got third place in forms, and my cousin, Gabriella, got third in both forms and sparring. I had a great time at the tournament. I can’t wait until worlds in Florida.- Xenia Correa
The positive benefits I see happening to my children by taking karate are still the same, but surprisingly getting better. When it comes to the home chores, they help out a lot more than when they began karate. All three of them, Xenia, Carlos, and Mario. I have also noticed that without us reminding them to practice at home; they have managed to make room in their already tight schedule to practice at least one hour. Xenia is mostly the one leading the group at home. I am very proud of what they’ve accomplished so far. I know they already enjoy doing karate. It is a big part of their lives. They will continue to do their best. I can see that. Their motivation is outstanding ~ Ms. Rangel
